The Toy Room: A Great Room for Children And Parents

Every child needs a special, magical place: a corner of the world (or at least the house) where he can escape, have fun, and rule his tiny kingdom. And this place is the toy room.

Bin Toy Organizer

Why You Need a Toy Room

Bin Toy Organizer

There are many benefits to having a designated Toy Room in the house. The first, and perhaps the most convincing argument, is that the sense of ownership--"this is my space, with my things"--helps develop a child's security and self esteem. Just put yourself in your child's shoes. He's smaller than everyone else, the grown ups set the rules, and the world seems like such a big place with scary and unfamiliar things and experiences. But the toy room becomes his sanctuary. He is surrounded by everything he loves, and has complete control over what happens within the walls of the toy room. Does he play with the blocks or the ball? Will he read a book or paint? Nobody can tell him what to do. Child psychologists also believe that a toy room can help him become more independent, since it encourages him to make small but simple decisions without mom and dad hovering over his shoulder.

For parents, the toy room is an enclosed, designated area where they can leave the child and not worry about his safety. This leaves them free to attend to chores or get a precious half hour of "me time".

How to Set up a Toy Room

-Make sure that the Toy Room is completely child-proof, especially if you cannot see the child from where you will be staying. Windows should be securely locked (you can buy clips or window guards). If you have Venetian blinds, make sure that the cords are tied well above the child's reach (they can get strangled on them). Wall sockets must have plastic protectors. Other common hazards are: exposed cords, breakables, and sharp table corners.
-Invest in a baby monitor for small children. It's best if you can hear them if they cry--just so can quickly check that they haven't gotten hurt.

-Choose furniture (tables and chairs, cabinets, book shelves, or coat racks) that are specifically designed for your child's age and size. They can climb on a tall adult's and then crash down to the floor, or slip while trying to reach a book on a shelf that's too high.
-If your child's older and able to follow instructions, give simple toy room safety rules. Better yet, remove anything that would possibly cause danger beyond his ability to control himself. For example, instead of saying "Don't run around with the sharp scissors" give him specially designed scissors for kids.

Toy Room Furniture

-Toy chest. Keep small toys organized and out of the way to avoid slipping. If your child has a lot of toys, try breaking them into groups and then rotating them. Not only is this neater, it prevents a small child from becoming overwhelmed (and when you bring out an old toy that he hasn't seen in a long time, he'll treat it like it's brand new!)

-Book shelves. Encourage a love for reading by keeping books readily accessible. Make reading a special bonding moment as well--snuggle together to read aloud a favorite fairytale!

-Table and chair. A child needs a table for writing, drawing, and other activities that need a bare and elevated surface: putting together puzzles, crafting, playing with clay, or the impromptu teddy bear tea party. Make sure that the table and chair at the right height, and that he doesn't need to slouch over or arch his shoulders to reach the table.

-Art easel. Drawing, painting and other creative activities encourage imagination and creativity, and help strengthen the hand muscles for writing. (Did you know that many pre-schoolers have trouble keeping up at school just because they don't like writing?).

Other optional toy room furniture are tents (for hide and seek play), sleeping mats (for nap times and sleep overs), and clothes racks for jackets.

Classic Toys for your Toy Room

There are traditional toys without which no toy room could ever be considered complete. Be sure to stock up on these classics--and keep a spare copy of your child's favorite toy in case it gets broken or lost!

Balls. If you're worried about your child throwing it around and breaking something in the toy room, have "indoor balls" that are smaller and made of light weight materials like foam. Balls develop hand eye coordination and are one of the few toys that are more fun when shared (great for play dates).

Dolls and stuffed animals. These toys are not only comforting and fun to hug, but are handy for imaginative play. Why not treat your child to a beautiful doll house?

Crayons, paper, and other art materials. If you're worried that your child will scrawl on the walls of your beautifully decorated toy room, buy special "washable" crayons that can be easily wiped off with water.

Blocks. Stack them up into cities or kingdoms. With a little imagination your child can also use them in conjunction with toys and dolls.

Puzzles. These help develop logic and spatial reasoning...not to mention patience! Choose puzzles that are appropriate for your child's age and skill, since getting something too complex will only discourage him.

Decorating your Toy Room

Now even the busiest parents can easily decorate a toy room. There are coordinated furniture sets for quite a number of themes, from a princess toy room in a charming pastel pink to a colorful zoo toy room for children who love animals. Just by selecting the right pieces, and choosing a complementing color for the walls, your toy room has that happy, "pulled together" look--even if you didn't hire an interior designer! Complete the design with sticker decals, themed beddings, matching accessories (like lamps and curtains), and your child's own art work. Wouldn't that be a toy room that anyone would be proud of?

How to De-Clutter Your Child's Space

Are you tired of seeing toys, books, stuffed animals, CD's, movies, or any of your child's thing scattered all over the place? Having a de-cluttered space helps put the mind at ease and creates a more relaxing environment.

Bin Toy Organizer

If you are having trouble finding a starting place then here are some ideas. Bins, baskets, buckets, and toy chests are great solutions for hiding things. If you have a wall unit or book shelf then choose your bin size accordingly. If you do not have a book shelf or wall unit then you can either purchase one at your local store or make it a project. Purchase some wood at your local home improvement store and build some shelves. You can make them as short or tall as you like and choose a neutral or fun color to paint them. Pick a bin that is just under the height of the opening -- by doing this you are able to hide your things with minimal sight of what's inside. If you choose a short bin and your shelf opening is tall then you are able to see all the bins contents --which does not completely solve the problem of hiding the clutter.

Bin Toy Organizer

If you do not want to put your bins on a shelf then be creative when finding places for them. Perhaps place them under a coffee table, end table or put them next to a sofa or chair. Use your creativity and incorporate your storage ideas into your room design.

Lastly, select some fun bins and fill your shelves or space with them.

If you have little ones then storage bins are wonderful for teaching them where all their toys, games, stuffed animals, and so on are placed when they are done with play time.

Tips to Keep a Toy Room Organized

You have just organized the toy room five minutes ago, and you find that it is just like the earthquake happens now. How do you feel? Well, this is commonly happened for parents who have kids at home. If you get depressed to keep a toy room organized, the following tips can help you to manage it well.

Bin Toy Organizer

If there are too many toys on your toy room, the first thing that you have to do is to discard toys that are broken. Also, you need to donate the toys that are not appropriated anymore with the age of your kids.

Bin Toy Organizer

The next thing that you have to do is to classify the toys based on the similar types. Use container to place the toys to make you easier organizing them. You can choose the container which can be locked so that the kids have to ask you first if they want to take the toys. This can be effective to keep your toy room organized.

Moreover, giving labels on the container can help you to identify the type of toys easier. These labels can also make you easily to organize the toys when it comes the time to clean up toys after they are played by your kids.

Teaching your kids about how to put toys back on the place after playing can also possibly work. This can also make your kids to learn about responsibility. Besides, if your kids can organize toys by themselves, you do not have to worry anymore about to keep a toy room organized.

Organizing a Toddler Room

Toddlers can all too quickly outgrow that adorable nursery that you put your heart and soul into. Especially if you kept your baby in your bed room with you for most of that first year. Sometimes your toddler has already outgrown the nursery before she even gets into it. When your child is old enough for a big boy or big girl room, then you need to get ready as well.

Bin Toy Organizer

Toys can really start to pile up over the first two to three years of life. You may find that the fancy little toy box you bought when your child was born is no longer nearly enough to store all of those toys! Storage bins can be your best friends when it comes to organizing toys. This is especially true in a small room. Small room or large space, a toddler can really destroy a room. You need a system that you can pick up quickly, and eventually teach your toddler as well.

Bin Toy Organizer

This poses a perfect opportunity to teach your little one some independent skills. Decide which bins will be for dolls, cars, blocks, magnet toys, balls, etc. Take a picture of one of the child's favorites from each bin. Label the bin with the picture of the toy that goes inside. Making word labels can help your child to eventually recognize common objects as sight words. Make it a fun game, like basket ball. Cheer and praise your child for getting the right toy into the right basket. Developmentally, this helps children to recognize patterns and group common objects together.

Another fun way to organize is by color. Get several large bins of varying colors, or paint them yourself. One bin can be rainbow colored for toys that are many colors. The red bin is for red toys. The green bin is for green toys, and so on. Make clean-up a fun time with your toddler. Some are happy with hugs and kisses. Some toddlers thrive on applause. Some even like to be tickled when they get it right. Figure out what motivates your child and you can start teaching them the wonderful habit of straightening up. A little time spent now can save you a lot of heartache in the future.

Make clothing an easy to handle chore as well. Get a special small laundry basket just for your toddler. Placing it in the closet will keep dirty clothes out of sight. Additionally, you'll teach your toddler that when they are changing clothes, their dirty ones should go straight into the basket. Use special children's clothes hangers to ensure that delicate garments are protected. Childrens clothes hangers also encourage children to help with the laundry by hanging their own clothes. If you have children's clothes hangers, then they will know that they are especially for them and they will be happy to use them.

How to Stop Your Dog From Digging - 4 Steps to Success

Most people don't like the fact that their dog tends to dig all over their yard. Digging is a natural activity for dogs and unfortunately one of their favorite pastimes and is considered one of the top 10 canine behavioral issues. Some breeds, because of their heritage, are natural-born diggers. Breeds like dachshunds and terriers were "designed" to dig for small animals, but almost any dog will send dirt flying if they think they're hot on the trail of a potentially tasty/entertaining quarry. So try to stop them from doing something that is natural to them is like asking a human to stop spending money. However, I do have a potential solution, and here it is:

Bin Toy Organizer

Don't try to stop them digging, try teaching them where it is ok to dig!

Bin Toy Organizer

This is a simple inexpensive method and with a little time your dog will soon be digging where you want it to rather than all over your yard. Just follow these four steps:

Step 1: Storage Bin. First you will need a storage bin. Go to your favorite store and purchase one of those plastic storage bins. It's probably best to get the biggest and deepest one you can find. This will be your dig pit. If you have a real big dog, don't worry. Later in the article, I provide an alternate method for real big dogs.

Step 2: Provide a Suitable Digging Place. Find a suitable place in your yard where you are going to allow your dog to dig. Dig a hole in the shape of the bin and deep enough for it to be buried with the top flush to the ground. Drill lots of little holes in the bottom for drainage then fill about 3/4 full with paver sand. I don't recommend the sand you can find for children's sand boxes because it very fine and your dog will be getting it all in its coat.

Step 3: Doing the training. My dog took to using the dig pit pretty quick, and hopefully yours will too. Whenever you dog starts to dig, move him/her to the sand pit and encouraged them to dig there. If you have a hard time getting your dog to use it, try playing with the dog's favorite toy and then bury it in the sand. Let them see you do this, then encourage them to dig it up and reward them when they do. Burying their favorite treats in the provided dig area may also help in the training process.

Step 4: Maintaining the pit. It's a good idea to keep the sand moist in the summer. Dogs like to dig into moist sand/dirt then lie in it to keep cool. I have a drip watering system for my hanging plants, so I installed the bin under one of the pots. Now the sand gets a dose of water every morning. Just remember your dog is going to dig all the sand out of the box, so you'll have to rake it back in every once and awhile.

Tips & Warnings

If your dog is still digging holes around the yard, bury their poop in it and cover it up. Though gross sounding, they most likely won't dig there again! Discipline them only if you catch them in the act of digging. If it is not done right when they're in the act, they won't know what they are being scolded for. For big dog owners you might want to try this option if you can't find a very larger bin. Dig a hole about 2 ft deep, sloped on the sides. Then cover the sides and bottom with about 1 1/2 inches of concrete. For drainage, push straws through the concrete before it sets. Cut the straws flush once the cement is dry and then fill the pit with sand. The cement option has the added benefit of keeping the dogs nails trimmed.

The "Ins and Outs" of Polyethylene Pallet Covers

"Joe! I need you to order 2,000 poly cover-bags for our shipment on the 15th!" the operations manager yells at 3:30 on a Friday afternoon. Being the purchasing agent for his company, it is inferred that Joe knows what a "poly cover-bag" is or what will be the best type, thickness, color or size to protect his product. If you know nothing about the polyethylene packaging industry, are looking for a specific answer like "how to measure" or are simply keeping up on recent market trends, this is the article for you.

Bin Toy Organizer

Pallet Covers are used to protect your company's product during transportation and storage. These days, pallet covers also serve as an effective means of advertisement as well as oversized trash bags. This article will teach you everything your manufacturer knows regarding this product. Therefore, it guarantees you will be a more effective buyer!

Bin Toy Organizer

Pallet Covers and Bin Liners are often listed on subsequent pages in packaging supply catalogs. This is done because, in most cases, a liner is simply an inverted cover. First we'll cover some basics of polyethylene custom films.

Polyethylene (PE) is a thermoplastic polymer, which is today's most widely used plastic. Even the now nearly obsolete plastic grocery bag is a form of PE. I say nearly obsolete as the plastic grocery bag has begun to give way to the Non-Woven Polypropylene (PP) shopping bag as a green alternative. There are several different sub-categories of Polyethylene; 10 to be more specific. I do not intend to bore you with a chemistry lesson (nor am I qualified to teach one) so we will discuss the few that are used most often in the packaging industry. There are three sub-classifications you will most likely be interested in, depending on your specific packaging needs.

They are linear low density polyethylene (LLDPE), low density polyethylene (LDPE) and high density polyethylene (HDPE). LLDPE is known to have a higher resistance to punctures and higher overall strength than that of a LDPE. LLDPE is commonly used to make thin films due to its high strength. LLDPE can be found in stretch films, plastic wraps and nearly all polyethylene markets. Negatives for LLDPE are its smaller heat-sealing abilities and production challenges. Pallet cover users typically prefer LDPE for its "burly" chemical characteristics. It can also be found in many other applications such as playground slides and computer components. LDPE is not as dense as LLDPE and also has a lower tensile strength that requires a higher thickness be used in many applications. HDPE is more likely to be used in the manufacturing of extremely thin films such as t-shirt bags or grocery bags as it relates to our industry. Outside of the packaging industry, HDPE has many different applications and is seen as a very versatile product. We will move on with the LDPE (don't forget Joe still has to get those bags ordered!).

What color? How many MIL thick? What is a MIL? Do I need a UVI additive? Should it be a shrink blend? What size? How many do I have to buy? How much will it cost? How "green" is it? Can I get my company info printed on it? How many print colors? How many print sides? Is it safe in cold weather? What is a gusseted cover? What is a center-fold and m-fold? How are they packaged? Don't worry, we'll get there.

Our friend Joe is employed by an industry leader in the manufacturing of dog food. His company is located in Miami, FL. Knowing the what, where, how long and size are a couple of determining factors in choosing the correct liner, or in this case cover.

Let's say Joe has 40 lb bags of dog food that are produced in mass quantity, then loaded on skids and shipped to distributors all over the continental U.S. For this order, Joe will be going with a Low Density Polyethylene. If we were just looking for the lowest cost and not concerned with presentation or longevity a black, LDPE, "Repro-Blend" would be the route to go. Given today's economy coupled with our nation's concern with staying "green", this has become a very popular choice.

The company's owners are more concerned with marketing and presentation than just getting a low price. Now that we know we're looking for a LDPE film, lets get more specific. Polyethylene resins can be "virgin" or a "virgin/repro blend" in this case. Many manufacturers only use virgin resin due to its quality and aesthetic value. Plus they are unable to quote on Repro products, as they do not have poly regrind machinery. When looking for the most economical choice, it is always good to find if your source has the capability to produce a product using recycled resin. Using a resin made partially of recycled polyethylene does allow your company to market it as a "green" product. Yes, it is a "plastic bag" which for some is the farthest thing from environmentally friendly. However, if your cover will eventually be used as a trash bag or disposed of shortly after being installed this may be the most economical route.

Polyethylene pallet covers can be manufactured in a wide array of colors. They also can be "Opaque" or "tinted", which of course, refers to the color density. The pantone color system (PMS) is the most common color system used to choose these colors. As with anything, the more bells and whistles you add, the more your costs rise. If your product will spend a great deal of time sitting at its destination prior to being unpacked, an opaque color with artwork should be an option to consider. In Joe's case, the owner wants both a good looking cover and increased marketing potential. White is always a great background for any print or logo to stand out on. So Joe should suggest white opaque film be used.

Shrink covers and bags are used to cover anything from a 30' boat to a 2" wide toy. A shrink cover is made of a film that does just that when heat is applied to it. In some applications the material is covered with a shrink film and moved through a heat tunnel. Other companies will use a heat gun to shrink the material around the product. If the decision is made to go with a shrink cover, additional tools will need to be purchased. Heat tunnels and heat guns do come with a high initial investment. Shrink products include; bags, covers, tubes and films. These items are installed to keep the pallet load secure and clean during transit and storage. Joe's product is wrapped with stretch film prior to having the pallet cover installed. When this is the case, a shrink cover is not typically needed, as the load is secured by stretch film.

We learned earlier that Joe's company is located in Florida and it transports throughout the country. This is relevant information as we begin to discuss a couple of additives often used in the manufacture of pallet covers. If the company was located in Minnesota, and the product sat in sub-freezing temperatures for long periods of time, EVA would be needed. EVA (Ethyl Vinyl Acetate) is an additive to prevent hardening and cracking due to the cold. Another common additive option requested in pallet cover production is UVI (Ultra Violet Inhibitor). This is needed if a covered load will be exposed to the sun, wind or salt spray for long periods of time. Purchasing an opaque cover does provide a degree of resistance to the sun's damaging rays. However, if you really need to be confident that the cover will protect your product from color changes due to fading, or you with to reduce bag deterioration, then the addition of a UVI is a must. Depending on the size, color and type of material, a variable amount of the additive is combined in the production of covers. For each amount there is a corresponding duration assigned to the cover's shelf life. A 6-month UVI additive and 12-month UVI additives are the most common amounts requested, as most products are either used or sold during the first 12 months. In Joe's case, the dog food bags are only exposed to the sun during transit. This, coupled with the fact that he has already chosen a white opaque film, will provide ample protection from the sun's rays.

Now that we've narrowed down the materials to be used, let's discuss measuring and a couple of more manufacturing options. How to measure for a pallet cover, or to determine the cover size required means that we first need to measure our palletized product. A gusseted pallet cover is typically used for 48"x48" pallets and many other similar sizes. Gusseted covers are very popular as they are form fitted to the product providing a nice clean look. We will cover this type of cover first. Simply measure the height, width and depth of the pallet (for depth number always use the shorter side). Once you have the width (the wider side) measured add 1"-2" for ease of installation. Next, find the depth and again add 1" -2". To find the length of the cover measure the height of the pallet and add 1/2 of the depth. In example: a pallet that measures 48" wide by 48" deep by 48" tall would result in a pallet cover size of 51" x 49" x 72". This size is very common and stocked by many distribution companies. Consider adding a couple inches to the height if you would like the pallet cover to be long enough to cover a portion of the pallet itself. If your cover will be in windy conditions it may be a good idea to order the cover a bit longer, then use a bundling film to secure the bottom of the cover to the wood pallet.

A centerfold cover is commonly used for larger, longer pallet loads. For this cover we again need to find our width, length and height. For a pallet 48" wide x 96" long x 48" high, we will measure the width plus 1/2 the depth, add 1" - 2" and use that number for the overall height of the bag. To find the length of the bag we measure the pallet length (96") then add 1/2 of each side depth (24"+24") this gives us a length of 144", we then add 4" - 6". This gives us a centerfold cover size: 150" x 74". The additional 4" - 6" in length are added for ease of installation, as this is needed for larger pallet loads. Most manufacturers' size capabilities restrict them from producing a gusseted cover for a pallet this size. The centerfold cover differs from the gusseted cover in that it is 2 dimensional and sometimes known as a lay flat bag or cover. Since we are installing a lay flat cover over a 3 dimensional pallet small amounts of extra material remain at the top of both ends. This extra material is commonly referred to as "dog ears" and doesn't affect the functionality or longevity of the cover. However, if you have a large load and would like a cover without "dog ears" and cannot go with a typical gusseted cover, an M-Fold cover is another option.

An M-Fold cover is needed on large pallets when manufacturing restrictions do not allow a centerfold or common gusset to be used. This cover is termed an M-Fold as it is the look created when the cover is folded in half. We will again need to find the width, depth and height of our palletized product. The length of our cover will again be the length of pallet plus 1/2 of each width and 1" - 2" additional inches. The next dimension will simply be the height of the pallet plus 1" - 2". The final dimension is one 1/2 of the depth plus 1" - 2". For example: a pallet 72" wide x 96" long x 72" high would be 96"" + 36" + 36" =172", then 74" and 36". Resulting in a 172" x 74" x 36" "m-fold cover. A common bread bag can help you to visualize the cover. Turn the bag on end and view one end of the bag as the top of your pallet. You will see one open gusset on each side of the bread bag. One negative to the M-Fold cover is its ability to catch and hold water in the exposed gussets. Making a couple of revolutions with a roll of bundling film can eliminate this issue. I have also had customers invert the covers to eliminate this problem. Doing this will improve functionality. However, the m-fold gusset is now exposed, which may or may not be aesthetic concern for you. Since Joe's palletized dog food bags are placed on a 48" x 48" pallet and stacked 48" high, he will be going with a 51" x 49" x 72" gusseted pallet cover. Now that we have the size and type of material, let's decide on a thickness.

MIL thickness of course refers to the cover's thickness as it is measured in millimeters. When choosing a thickness, always remember the characteristics of the material being used (briefly discussed earlier). We know that we are using a LDPE and that the load will be secured with stretch film under the cover. We also know that the outdoor exposure and transit times will be minimal. Mil thicknesses of 1 to 6 are most common for one-time use LDPE pallet covers. Most manufacturing facilities can produce polyethylene pallet covers from.0006 to.010 (commonly referred to as.06 MIL to 10 MIL). For Joe's company, a 1.5 MIL will be used, as aesthetics and marketing are more of a concern than durability. Using a lower thickness may offset the cost of having a more expensive color, printed cover.

When requesting a quote always be sure you're comparing "apples to apples". Some manufactures deal only in "full gauge" and others use "industry standard" or "nominal". If a company uses the latter, a 1.5 MIL product could actually be manufactured +/- 10% which would result in an end product anywhere from 1.35 MIL to 1.65 MIL (usually the lower). A full gauge product is just that, and you will always receive the full 1.5 MIL. This can be checked in house once you receive the product with a micrometer. We now are ready to order a White Opaque Gusseted 51" x 49" x 72" x 1.5 MIL (Full Gauge) pallet cover. Next, let's discuss Joe's printing options.

Printing your logo and company info, on the pallet cover can really take advantage of an often-overlooked marketing opportunity. Every manufacturing facility differs in their printing capabilities. However, most have the ability to print on at least one side of the cover in one color. Some manufacturers can produce a two-sided print using several colors. One-sided print is very effective if the pallet is placed with the correct side facing potential customers, i.e. the flat bed trailer, retail store or store yard. The information displayed in the print is really up to the customer. Having a company logo / business card on an electronic file can always speed up the process. No matter what is placed on the cover, make sure to see the final proof and do not sign off on it until you are satisfied.

Pallet cover print is installed by using a "plate" which is a rubber stamp made from your artwork. This plate comes with an additional one-time fee. The plate costs cover any graphic artwork that may be required, as well as the cost of creating the custom rubber stamp. The distance from the artwork to the top and bottom of the cover are selected, as well as the distance between each print. The print is typically applied randomly to the bag meaning that it starts and stops in a different location from one bag to the next. Lead-time for a printed cover can be anywhere from 1-5 weeks depending on the manufacturer and the detail requested. Joe wants a great marketing piece, but is on a budget as well. So he will go with the one side, one color random print. We now have a Gusseted Pallet Cover in White Opaque with 1C1S Random print 51" x 49" x 72" x 1.5 MIL (full gauge). Now that Joe has the vitals selected, how many will he have to purchase?

Minimums on a pallet cover like Joe's are usually high and may require a large initial investment. Many manufacturers will require a minimum run of at least 3,000 lbs, but some may be willing to run a minimum of 1,000 (often referred to as 1M). All manufacturers think in terms of poundage rather than number of covers. To convert Joe's covers into poundage, we will need to do some quick math. For a cover 51" x 49" x 72" x 1.5 MIL we add the first two numbers, multiply by the third number, take that number and multiply it by.0015 then divide by 15.

100 x 72 = 7,200, 7,200 x.0015 = 10.8, 10.8 / 15 =.72 pounds per cover

Now, if we know that our manufacturer is dealing in "Industry Standard" or "Nominal" rather than full gauge, we will need to adjust the math a bit. Change the.0015 to.00135 to represent the actual MIL thickness.

100 x 72 = 7,200, 7,200 x.00135 = 9.72, 9.72 / 15 =.648 pounds per cover

If our chosen manufacturer has a 3,000 lb minimum (3M) we divide 3,000 by our full gauge weight,.648. Resulting in a minimum order size of roughly 4,600 pallet covers.

It is standard in the packaging industry for manufacturers to overrun or under-run a product +/- 10%. The final order may have +/- 460 covers. Knowing the conversion to poundage is also helpful when determining the number of covers per roll. 100 bags on a roll at.648 pounds each would put us around 65 lbs a roll, which should be pretty manageable. Smaller roll sizes may require an up-charge based on poundage. Skid weights of 1,200 to 1,700 pounds are most common. If your salesman says his or her custom order minimum is 2 skids, the number of covers can be found by doing some quick division. In this case we'll say skid weight is 1,400 lbs, so we divide that by the 65 lbs per roll giving us 21.5 or 22 rolls. We then take 22 rolls x 2 skids, 44 x 100 covers per roll = a minimum order of roughly 4,400 covers. Manufacturers will typically have price breaks at 3M, 5M and 10M pounds. Depending on the usage, it may be a good idea to find out how much can be saved by upping the order size. Joe knows that his manufacturer's minimum poundage is 3M.

We now know the "ins and outs" of polyethylene pallet covers, and are ready to get some price quotes!

Teak Storage Boxes - Organize the Outdoors

Our homes are equipped with an infinite number of storage spaces, from cabinets, to cupboards, nooks, attics and more. But oftentimes, our backyards can have just as much clutter as the indoors, and there isn't the luxury of cabinet space. Do not leave your stuff lying around; try teak storage boxes and clean up your act. They will make your yard look cleaner and also keep those things you use outdoors more convenient and at hand than keeping them someplace inside.

Bin Toy Organizer

Organize the pool area

Bin Toy Organizer

One of the most popular users of teak storage boxes are pool owners. There are a bunch of different toys and accessories associated with pools, but why have to walk all the way to the garage or inside to grab them? You can store everything from inflatable rafts, to foam noodles, kickboards and more inside these roomy containers. You can also keep towels inside for easy grabbing. However, it is recommended that you dry off any object before storing it away, as moisture buildup can cause damage and molding to your towels and the bin itself.

Organize the deck

Another equally popular use for teak storage boxes is up on the deck. Keep all of your accessories for entertaining, like candles holders, string lighting and more at hand's reach. Or else you can use them to store your patio chair cushions. Not only can these cushions take up a lot of room inside your home, but they also are much easier to get in and out when needed, like when it begins to rain unexpectedly. With how big most boxes are, you should easily be able to get all of your cushions inside. There, they will stay dry and retain their color better than if exposed to rain and sun. However, in winter it is still recommended that you bring patio cushions somewhere inside for storage, as storage bins are not equipped to keep out freezing temperatures that can damage the fabric of these cushions.

Organize more than one area

If you have lots of stuff or prefer to keep your possessions organized by type, consider buying multiple teak storage boxes. They're so useful you will certainly be able to find some way to employ them. For example, you can keep all of your deck objects, including chair cushions, in one box, while keeping pool toys in another. For one thing, it will keep your chair cushions from smelling like chlorine.

Organize indoors and out

Teak storage boxes are valued also for their versatility. They can be used outdoors, but also indoors in rumpus rooms, your child's bedroom, and more. Toss all of your child's stuffed animals inside, or bring it on the patio to use as an ice chest for your drinks. Once everything is inside, the top of storage boxes can be used for displaying decorations or as benches for extra seating.

Teak cannot be beat

A major thing to point out is that while all storage boxes are useful, teak is certainly a superior product. Teak offers a durability matched only by the sturdiest of materials, but also features a natural beauty that far surpasses ugly rubber and plastic storage containers. At the same time, teak storage boxes have many advantageous features, including ventilation along the bottom to keep water out but air circulating within.

Tips on How to Do Laundry

Here are some great laundry cleaning tips and suggestions to help you with laundry organization:

Bin Toy Organizer

Always check on the laundry tags before washing. Seperate colors! Don't put black stockings in the washer with beige socks, you won't like the results. Delicate things like baby booties which are washable should be washed in a delicate cycle if you can. Never put hosiery like socks and tights in dryer especially not nylon, always lie flat to dry. When you put stockings in the washer always make sure to put it in a hosiery bag or pillow case so they dont get caught onto zippers of other cloths in the wash load. Velours and terry fabrics are usually better when put into the dryer for that extra fluff, but make sure to check the tags before if garment can be put into dryer.

Bin Toy Organizer

Laundry organization takes a lot of effort. Laundry is not so easy to manage if you don't do it the right way.

How to Keep Socks from Disappearing

You're continually busy finding socks withouth its' pair, or tops without bottoms or garments somehow lost in the far corner of a laundry room closet. Staying on top of all this chaos requires a system.

Instructions

step 1 Before doing laundry organization , sort them in piles. Go through all the cloths and divide them into piles: underwear, dark cloths, shirts, strechies. Do this every time you do laundry. step 2 The laundry that needs to be soaked due to bad stains, put on a seperate spot, and start the presoak. step 3 Wash all the loads one after the other hanging up cloths that need to be hung up. Put in the dryer the rest. step 4 As soon as you get the socks out of the dryer, match up the pairs immediately, so they don't disappear. step 5 Be aware, some cloths may shrink in the dryer, especially on high heat settings. Always check labels for drying instructions before putting cloths in the dryer.

Enjoy laundry day, it is not a dismissal, it's the way you work it out; if you are organized than you like it.

Tips on Laundry Organization Tips How To Store Childrenswear The Right Way:
Look through your childrens closet to see if you have cloths that do not fit or out of style and remove them. Gather all accessories that specifically belong to these outfits like socks, hair accessories, hats and crib shoes. Wash all these clothing and accessories (only the ones that are washabele) try to remove the stains if possible to make sure everything is clean. Now when everything is clean place them on a flat surface to put sets together to match accessories to the garments. Stack them one on top of the other , spreading the clothing as flat as possible so it shouldn't be bulky just very neat. The best place to store clothing is in a plastic bag sealed. You can use a plastic garbage bag, zip lock bags, or any space saving bag would be appropriate. Put in the stack of cloths in the bag air tight, remove excess air by punching bag while sealing. All bags should be labeled, outside of the bag, with a permanent marker the size, gender and season. Example: "Winter-girls-2 years-clothing and accessories." It's a good idea to put bags in a container side by side to always have access to all sizes. Make sure to put the bags according to sizes from smallest to largest as you add on. Sort containers by gender, one storage bin for girls one for boys and one for unisex. Most people like an attic to store containers while other perfer rather a basement, both serve the purpose. It doesn't matter as long as it's done the right way

Saving clothing for a younger kid is beneficial for the pocketbook too, not only for the child. Follow these laundry organization steps and you will always have cloths organized any time of the year and ready to use.

10 Useful Tips On Preparing For Your First Newborn

When you're a first-time parent, the urge to buy tons of cute, new stuff for your baby is overwhelming. There are so many cool gadgets, products, clothes and more for your little one ... not to mention all the already-parents telling you what you absolutely have to have in order to survive as a new parent. I am 38 weeks pregnant with my first child - a boy named Quentin (whom we already call "Q") - and I really do believe that it will be possible for my fiance and I to maintain somewhat of a simple lifestyle. Am I living in a dream world? As of now, we buy only what we need in terms of food, consumer products and clothing - so why should having a baby change all that?

Bin Toy Organizer

Well, there's a laugh! It just does, doesn't it? And those of you who are already parents probably know exactly what I mean. I'd love to hear your thoughts and comments about raising a "minimalist" baby. I think it's completely possible, but I want to hear feedback from the clutter-ridden to the absolutely minimalistic. Although we are not total minimalists, we thrive on having a simple household - I truly believe there is a happy medium in which we buy and keep things that we love, use or need. And that's it. If anything doesn't fit into one of those three categories, it goes to charity, the recycle bin or - as a last resort - the garbage.

Bin Toy Organizer

Here are 10 useful tips (I've found) on preparing for your first newborn:

1. Wait until after the baby shower to buy. So far, we've had a baby shower and we received many items that we will definitely use (products and such). My suggestion is to not buy anything such as baby shampoos, soaps, wipes and diapers until after your baby shower. People will most likely buy these things for you. You will also receive gift cards, and these will come in handy to buy the things you still need after the shower is over.

2. Definitely have a baby shower for your first baby. Even if you only invite a few people, a baby shower is a time not only to receive special gifts and wishes from people you care about, it's a time to celebrate the new family member that will soon enter your lives.

3. Keep your baby shower simple. Forget center pieces. Forget renting a hall or restaurant space. Invite people that are closest to you. Have it in your home if at all possible. Order catering (so you don't have to cook/prepare food). Obtain the help of a friend or parent to help you clean the day before. Enlist another friend to help with handwritten or computer generated invitations and keeping things organized on shower day. People understand that you are close to giving birth, and they will not expect you to be the hostess of the year for your shower. Sometimes it's easy to forget how sympathetic others are - there is no need to pull off the "perfect" shower - just have fun, open gifts and enjoy your guests.

4. Do not feel like you have to use the "must-have" newborn checklists on mega baby store websites. These lists are designed to get you to buy as much stuff as possible. From the layette to toys to bottles to strollers, it can all be very overwhelming. The best things I did to see what I absolutely needed was to 1.) ask friends that already have babies what they absolutely needed and what they could do without and 2.) read the book Baby Bargains - it answers so many questions for first time parents and tells you what you absolutely need and what you do not. You can get it used or new from Amazon.com, or borrow a copy from a friend. Even if you don't have the newest version, you'll still benefit from reading it.

5. Get creative and stay simple when decorating your baby's nursery. Why must we paint the baby's nursery pale pink or blue and buy all the fancy "trimmings" like quilts that can't even be used in the crib anyway? Let me be the one to tell you ... the baby does not care what his or her nursery looks like. He will not remember. Do you remember your baby nursery? Buy or use furniture that will grow with the child instead of baby-looking furniture like white or pale wood. I think it's important for a child to love his own space once he's old enough to appreciate and remember it - it's something you can do together once he's old enough. But, as for an infant, do what doesn't require 1.) a lot of work, 2.) a lot of paint, and 3.) a lot of "fuss" (too many stuffed animals, blankets, toys, etc.) Simplicity starts from the very beginning, and if you want to instill that mindset into your child, you must start from day one so things don't start accumulating.

6. Breastfeed if you can. This eliminates the need for extra bottles, nipples, formula, bottle warmers (which don't work well anyway and aren't recommended even for formula) and burp rags (your baby will spit up less with breast milk). Breastfeeding is the best possible food for your baby - not only that, but it's also the simplest! You can go anywhere and always have food "on hand" (or "on breast" ... however you want to look at it!) Don't give up early if you feel you just can't do it ... keep trying, and your baby will thank you in more ways than one.

7. Don't feel bad buying second-hand clothing or accepting hand-me-downs from friends and family. There is absolutely nothing wrong with using second hand clothes for babies. Think about it - babies outgrow their clothes about every three months until they are in school. Why would we buy all new clothes everytime they have a growing spurt? The great thing about this is, used clothes clean up like new with some fragrance free detergent and fabric softener. No one will ever know but you ... and maybe your "baby" when he becomes a teenager!

8. Buy or use products that "transition" into something else. Some examples of this include: cribs that transition into toddler and then full-size beds, carseats that can be used as carriers and also insert into your stroller, carseats that transition into bigger carseats (so you don't have to keep buying new ones), pack 'n plays that can be used as a bassinet, changing table and playpen. These products will last longer and transition with your baby as he grows older.

9. Create your own list of baby needs and wants. Start from scratch with a list of things you think you may need or want with a new baby, and then think of places or people that you can get these things from without buying them (or getting them dirt cheap ... ebay is a great start!) Stick to your guns when people try to tell you you need something when you clearly know you don't. Chances are, you won't. You definitely need the basics when taking care of a baby, but the "frills" are for the parents' sake only - not the baby's - you just don't need all that extra stuff. Truly think about what will make your life easier for you and your child during those first few months, and that's it.

10. Simplify your own home. This entire website is about simplifying your life. If you haven't taken action to simplify your own life before this new life comes into your life, now is as good a time as any. You may have that nesting instinct kicking in, so take advantage of it, and perhaps enlist the help of a spouse or friend to go through your home (little by little) getting rid of things that no longer serve your new life. I promise you, once you get on this "kick", it will carry over into your life as a new parent, and you'll want to keep things simple even with your new little one.

I hope this list helps you get started and takes away some of the overwhelming feelings that come along with being a first time parent. You really don't need all the stuff that stores and even well-meaning friends and family press upon you. Be who you are, stick to what you believe and continue your minimalist-like lifestyle, even with a new baby in the mix.

3 Clear Plastic Containers With Lids Every Store Owner Needs

Clear plastic containers have multiple display, storage, and organizational purposes in a variety of realms, and clear plastic containers with lids add an extra perk. Retail stores can use these kinds of fixtures to display merchandise as well as store items not ready for display and organize items meant to help the owners, managers, and associates do their jobs, while restaurants can use them to store, display, and keep fresh and safe from dust and debris food items that might not otherwise be entirely safe in traditional, lidless containers.

Bin Toy Organizer

Also like regular plastic containers, clear plastic containers with lids come in a variety of shapes, styles, and sizes. Whether you manage a retail establishment or restaurant, below are three kinds of containers and bins with lids to help you store, organize, and display your merchandise.

Bin Toy Organizer

NOTE: If you plan to use any of these kinds of plastic containers with lids to display any kind of food product that isn't wrapped, it's best to pair them with other display accessories like aluminum or plastic scoops or tongs. Scoops and tongs help customers retrieve the amount of food product they want without touching and possibly contaminating any of the rest of it.

Plastic Canisters With Lids

Plastic canisters with lids are nearly identical to glass or ceramic canisters with lids, as far as overall style and function is concerned, but they add an extra perk: they're plastic, which means they're less likely to break if they're dropped or bumped into and, if they do happen to crack or break, the plastic pieces are less like to harm your customers or employees.

Plastic canisters with lids work well in both traditional retail settings and restaurant or specialty food shops like bakeries, yogurt shops, and ice cream parlors. You can use these containers to display small convenience items like lighters or children's toys like bouncy balls, or edible items like unwrapped candy, gumballs, or sprinkles for deserts.

Plastic "Fish Bowls" With Lids

Plastic fish bowls with lids offer store managers, owners, and customers the same excellent display fixture option with an added kick - lids!

With plastic fish bowls with lids, you can store, organize, and display everything you can with regular fish bowls, but you can also store, organize, and display items that need protection from "sticky fingers" or dust and debris. These containers are great display fixtures for small kinds of merchandise like hobby and craft items (think beads and other baubles) as well as unwrapped food products (think unwrapped candy and gumballs).

Plastic Bins With Lids

Think of plastic bins with lids as larger, horizontal, and sometimes stackable versions of plastic canisters with lids. The size of these bins help them work extremely well for storing and displaying loose and unwrapped food products like pretzels, trail mix, peanuts and other nuts, unwrapped candy, and sprinkles for ice cream and yogurt. The lids take the benefits of these bins a step further by helping keep the food products fresh and safe from dust and other debris.
